The Under 5s Development Worker at Young Lives supports the VCSE organisations that work with families from pregnancy through to school age by developing fun, engaging and practical programmes, alongside offering training and support to the wider sector.

How the work is delivered

The role focuses on creating opportunities for children to play, learn, grow and thrive, while helping parents feel confident, connected and supported. Using the Risk and Resilience Framework to underpin the work, the Under 5's Development Worker delivers and supports projects such as the Play, Grow, Belong website , Ready Steady Grow and Super-Pants Hero Academy - covering areas such as safe sleep, potty-training peer support, sensory play, weaning guidance and school readiness.

Working closely with partners including health visitors, midwives, Wakefield Families Together and community organisations to help families feel more connected to their communities and able to access the support they need.

Vision

To empower families and children—building confidence, strengthening relationships and creating positive early experiences that set the foundation for lifelong wellbeing.
