We envisage a bright future where all partners are working collaboratively to provide quality youth provision that meets the diverse needs of Wakefield’s young people and enables them to reach their full potential.
Who are Wakefield Youth Work Alliance?
Wakefield Youth Work Alliance has been developed as a partnership of youth work organisations across the Wakefield district, united by a shared commitment to youth and community work as a distinct and impactful practice.
It aims to demonstrate the transformative value of youth work in addressing the personal and social development needs of young people in Wakefield.
By building strong networks and relationships between partners, the Alliance creates opportunities for collaboration, mutual support, and the sharing of skills and training, ensuring that the sector remains innovative and responsive to the needs of young people and their communities.

What is the membership criteria?
Wakefield Youth Work Alliance provides an open and accessible route to membership for organisations working with young people aged 11–25 in Wakefield. To join, organisations must meet the following key requirements:
✔ Recognisable Youth Work Role
You must deliver a clear youth work function as part of your organisation’s activity.
✔ Good Governance & Safeguarding
Members must demonstrate appropriate standards in governance, quality, and safeguarding.
✔ Commitment to Staff Development
Organisations should support ongoing staff training and follow fair employment practices, including paying at least the national living wage.
✔ Third Sector Standards (if applicable)
Third sector organisations must be registered with and adhere to the Community Investment Gateway
✔ Formal Legal Structure
Your organisation must have a recognised legal status and a governing document outlining roles and responsibilities.
✔ Qualified Youth Work Staff
You must have at least one JNC Level 3 (or above) qualified staff member, with a commitment to increasing qualification levels over time.
