Star Bereavement is looking for volunteers to work with them on Fundraising and their children and young people groups.

If you can give a few hours a week or more your contribution will be very valuable. 
Our children and young people groups are rewarding, great experiences, and fun.
Or you may want to gain experience in fundraising.

Star is also looking for volunteer drivers to support young people to attend bereavement support groups.

Volunteers are vital to the support Star provides to bereaved children and young people in Wakefield and you will be welcomed and valued by the team

The Risk and Resilience Framework
- increase confidence in using the framework

The session will enable you to increase confidence in using the framework, recognise how it can complement your work, identify and overcome barriers to using it, and share best practices.

Please note that this training is delivered with Public Health, as such your details will be shared with Wakefield Council to book you on the training.

Call out for support: impact of childhood trauma and adversity on life trajectories, compounded by experiences with the criminal justice system and policing

The Adversity, Trauma and Resilience team at the ICB would be grateful to hear from organisations working with young people aged 18-25. 

Your support is vital in helping us engage safely and in a trauma-informed way with young people who have lived experiences. Our research will involve:

 Discussions with young people aged 18–25 across West Yorkshire who have experienced significant interactions with police and criminal justice agencies and institutions

  1. Construction of narrative histories by working with young people
  2. Interviews with key professionals and frontline service providers engaged in policing, safeguarding, social care, and health who have had interactions with young people aged 18–25 who have engaged with the CJS/police in West Yorkshire
  3. Interviews with key professionals and frontline service providers engaged in policing, safeguarding, social care, and health who have had interactions with young people aged 18–25 who have engaged with the CJS/police in West Yorkshire

Funding

 Wakefield Council Culture Grants

Culture Grants are part of our Year- Wakefield District 2024. Our Year will host 366 days of culture. Successful projects will be part of our year.

Number of different opportunities funding from £1,500 - £15,000

Monthly deadlines throughout the year. The final deadline for applications is 16 December 2024 - 5 pm.

 7Stars Foundation Reopens for Third 2024 Funding Round

7Stars Foundation is offering grants of up to £2,500 for registered charities with an annual turnover of less than £1.5 million across the UK to deliver projects and activities that support young people aged 16 years and under across the priority themes of abuse, addiction, child carers, and homelessness.

Funding for offered across the following streams:

  • Project grants to cover the costs of projects that respond to one or more of the funding priorities of the 7stars Foundation.
  • Shine Bright funding for registered charities to purchase items and resources to protect and support the children they serve through the cost-of-living crisis.
  • Direct grants funding to individuals affected by the Foundation's priorities, supported by outreach/social/care workers or legal professionals. (Applications must be submitted by the supporting professional/organisation.)
  • Social Impact funding for three charities across the year for projects that align with awareness days across the year.

The trustees typically meet four times a year to review grant applications.

The next deadline for applications is 31 August 2024.

  Youth Music Trailblazer Fund

Youth Music Trailblazer Fund aims to support young people who want to change their lives through music but cannot because of who they are, where they are from, or what they are going through.

The grants are for organisations who want to trial work for the first time, test a new way of working, or disrupt the status quo.

The project should last between 6 and 24 months and should include at least 10% match funding.

Grants of: £2,000 to £15,000 are available to organisations of less than one year old.
Grants of £2,000 to £30,000 are available to organisations of more than one year old.

The deadline: 30 August 2024
