Star Bereavement are looking for volunteers to work with them on Fundraising and their children and young peoples groups.
If you are able to give a few hours a week or more your contribution will be very valuable.
Our children and young peoples groups are rewarding, great experience and fun.
Or you may want to gain experience in fundraising.
Star are also looking for volunteer drivers to support young people to attend bereavement support groups.
Volunteers are vital to the support Star provides to bereaved children and young people in Wakefield and you will be welcomed and valued by the team

Domestic Abuse - Basic awareness
"Through the eyes of a child"

The aim of this course is for professionals to develop a greater understanding of a child living/lived in domestic abuse and the issues that can arise for the family. The support professionals can provide for these families, how to identify what is needed and how to deliver it.
Aim: - Raise awareness for professionals around;
- Impact of Domestic Abuse on child/ren (Charlie)
- History of the child/ren’s exposure (Trauma/Ace)
- From a child/ren’s perspective
Outcome: - To improve and raise confidence and provide the knowledge for professionals when working with parents & children. To feel more confident

Making Every Contact Count: Mental Health Workshop |
- Tuesday, 30th January, 9:00-16:30
venue: Agbrigg & Belle Vue Community Centre
The workshop is open to volunteers and staff from VCSE organisations and uses a behaviour change approach to embed mental health promotion conversations into your work with service users.
Subsidies costs are £20 per participant.

Archive Engagement Grants
The Engagement Grants Programme offers grants of up to £5,000 for organisations to conduct outreach and engagement projects, that will connect archives with their communities in places across England and Wales.
This year's grants are based on the idea and concept of "place". Heritage has a important, and unique, role in bringing people closer together to explore place. Archives contain the records of people, places and events that have defined our shared history and enable us to understand our past, interpreting and sharing collective stories and experiences. We would ask that you consider your collections and records, and how you could use them to engage with new and existing audiences to explore ideas relating to place.

Groundwork administered VCSE Energy Efficiency Scheme
New Fund to Help VCSE Organisations in England Improve Energy Efficiency.
Capital Grants can be between £2,000 and £150,00.
There are two elements:
- Eligible organisations can apply now for the cost and delivery of an independent energy assessment (IEA). this will help identify how to reduce bills through measures such as improving or installing new energy features in the building, or changing how energy is used.
These assessments will be useful to organisations whether or not they apply for the second element. - Organisations with an energy assessment may then be eligible to apply for a capital grant to install the recommended energy efficiency measures in their premises.
Please note that there will be three capital grant rounds with applications opening in early January, mid April and early July 2024.

George A Moore Foundation
George A Moore, a local industrialist, founded the George A Moore Foundation in 1970 initially as a welfare fund for the employees of his factories. After selling his business in 1987, the Foundation continued to operate for the benefit of charitable organisations. Since then the Foundation has given millions of pounds to large and small charitable organisations working for the benefit of local people. this has included projects in education, health, community, sporting and the armed forces among others.
The Foundation now focuses its grant-making activities on projects in North and West Yorkshire.
Amount available per project is discretionary, but applications are accepted at any time and are considered at quarterly meetings taking place in February, May, August and November).

Small Change Big Difference Fund
The YBS Charitable Foundation has two priority areas: alleviating poverty and improving health/ saving lives.
The Small change Big Difference fund supports these priorities by making donations of up to £2,500 to UK registered charities, nominated by the Society's members and colleagues.
It supports beneficiaries such as children, those who are seriously ill, as well as elderly, homeless and disabled people.
The next funding round closes on 31st March 2024.
